Meaning of Anandoham Mantra
Anandoham means „I am Bliss“. Ananda means bliss, true happiness, joy. Aham means I am. Anandoham is the expression of the joy of the soul. The Mantra Anandoham affirms the identitiy of the individual soul (Jiva) and the Cosmic Soul (Brahman). There is one universal Consciousness. The individual is identifying with body an mind. Therefore it is unhappy. The individual soul knows deeply within that there is a higher reality with which it is one. The soul is yearning to experience this oneness. Because the Soul, Atman, is Sat Chid Ananda it will not be satisfied until it realises its own true nature.
By chanting Anandoham you reaffirm your identity with the highest soul. Thereby you can feel Ananda, the Joy within.
